HOGWILD DEMOLITION DERBY by Kai Devenitch

After much work and anticipation, I participated in my first Demolition Derby on Saturday, October 8 at the HogWild Fall Brawl and Aut-Oberfest (http://www.hogwildderby.com/) ! I competed in the Truck class where I wired, bolted and welded my 1985 Chevrolet C10 to make a run. It's a lot of hard work and wrenching to get a vehicle prepared for a Demolition Derby but it's also a lot of fun. Unfortunately, I was pinned against the wall early on in the heat so, I wasn't able to get many good hits in. Thankfully, there's enough truck in tact to make another run. Be on the lookout next spring for the Pittsburgh Pounder truck to make an appearance at the Lions Club in Nex Alexanderia, PA.

In addition to being a part of the demolition derby, I also created 2 paintings which were shown in the Art Barn sponsored by Most Wanted Fine Art at the event. My role extended even further being the Chief Graphic Designer for the event; creating the event posters, passes, t-shirts and ads.

2016 HEAD OF THE OHIO REGATTA by Kai Devenitch

The Bayer HealthCare Corporate Rowing Team took on the Allegheny River this past Saturday, October 1. Competing in the Head of the Ohio Regatta, the Bayer Buccaneers battled through a grueling 2.5mi stretch of the Allegheny River to the Ohio River. The Buccaneers finished the race in 17:59 minutes. As the captain, I was very proud of my team for sticking together the entire way and holding off a competing boat that trail us much of the race.

Pittsburgh Glass Center Mural by Kai Devenitch

A new mural was added to Pittsburgh's Glass Center recently. As a part of the mural project, 11 local artists combined to create a portion of the larger mural by Thurman Statom. Each artist was given a 2'x2' cement slab to contribute to the overall expression.

The project was featured in an article by Next Pittsburgh! To read the article, click HERE.

The mural can be seen at the Pittsburgh Glass Center, 5472 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206

MUSICALIDADES - Live Painting at Spirit 7/23 by Kai Devenitch

On Stage at Spirit raffling off the finished painting at the end of the night.

As a part of the Our Rhythm fundraising event, I contributed my artistic talents to create live art while musicians of the project performed on stage. It was a lot of fun being a part of such acollaborative and creative production. Good people doing good things.

The painting went to a woman from Cincinnati who had driven to Pittsburgh that day. She was excited to receive her own jellyfish painting to take back to Ohio with her.

Our Rythm is still trying to raise more to complete their documentary. To learn more about the project, visit their website at http://www.ourrhythm.net/
